Get a professional introduction to ski mountaineering - South Tyrol and its beautiful winter landscape are perfect for it! The focus of this course is on safety while ski touring and behaviour in an emergency. You will learn the basics in theory and practice and will be perfectly prepared for safe ski touring.

After this course, you will be able to plan ski tours independently and carry them out safely.

The course location is chosen individually depending on the participants and snow conditions.

Program:

Day 1

On the first day, the following basics are learnt in open terrain at the respective course location:

Equipment
Track setting and hairpin bends
Avalanche awareness
Behaviour in the terrain
Snow profile (ECT), slope inclinations (estimate and measure)
Avalanche beacon search

The theory of ski touring is also taught:

Tour planning
Lecture: 1x1 Avalanche
Examples of avalanche accidents
Avalanche statistics

Day 2

The content learnt on the previous day about safe ski touring is put into practice on the second day as part of a ski tour. The choice of tour is left to the course participants.
