Get a professional introduction to ski mountaineering - South Tyrol and its beautiful winter landscape are perfect for it! The focus of this course is on safety while ski mountaineering and behaviour in an emergency. You will learn the basics in theory and practice and will be perfectly prepared for safe ski mountaineering. After this course, you will be able to plan ski tours independently and carry them out safely.

The area is selected according to snow conditions.

Program:

Day 1

On the first day you will learn the following basics in open terrain:

Equipment
Track setting and hairpin turns
Avalanche awareness
Behaviour in open terrain
Snow profile slope gradients (estimate and measure)
LVS search - basics

Day 2

On the second day you will learn various theoretical contents for ski touring:

Tour planning lecture: 1x1 Avalanche
Examples of avalanche accidents
Avalanche statistics
LVS basics (group check and LVS search)
Planning a tour for Sunday

Day 3

The content learnt on the previous days about safe ski touring is put into practice on the third day as part of a ski tour. The choice of tour is left to the course participants.
