Santner Peak (2,414 m) – Classic Dolomite Route
Alpine climbing via north face and ridge
The Santner Peak, formerly known as Großer Schlernzacken, was long considered unconquerable. In 1880, Tyrolean alpinist Johann Santner made the first ascent, and the peak was later named in his honor. Today, Santner Peak is one of the classic Dolomite routes, offering a memorable alpine experience.
The normal route leads over the north face and along the ridge to the summit. With approximately 1,500 meters of elevation gain, including about 800 meters of climbing across 20 pitches, the route is technically moderate but requires stamina and a confident approach to the rock. The ascent starts at the Schlernbödele hut or from Bad Ratzes at 1,693 m above sea level.
The summit rewards climbers with breathtaking views of the surrounding Dolomites and the Schlern area. The descent follows a well-equipped abseil route, making for a safe and varied return. With an experienced, certified mountain guide, this climb becomes a secure, guided, and unforgettable Dolomite adventure.
