Summit tour in the heart of South Tyrol

9 days - 13 summits in the Sarntal Alps

On our hiking tour in the heart of South Tyrol, we hike through the Sarntal Alps for nine days. We continuously enjoy a beautiful view of the unique South Tyrolean mountains. Away from the big crowds, we can switch off, escape from everyday life and let nature take its effect on us.

During our hiking tour we will pass many extraordinary spots. We will walk along the geographical centre of South Tyrol, the Villanderer Berg. We will also stop at the highest pilgrimage church in Europe. Of course, the highlights also include the unique mountain scenery, with its beautiful flower meadows, impressive peaks and breathtaking views.

The planned hikes can always be flexibly adapted; if necessary, a peak can be omitted to shorten the tour. In the Sarntal valley we have the possibility to take a rest day. There is also the possibility of visiting a cultural tour of traditional South Tyrolean handicrafts.

Program:

Day 1

On Saturday the arrival takes place. The meeting point is on the Villanderer Alm and is easily accessible by car.

Accomodation: Gasser Hütte

Day 2

On Sunday we hike across the alpine plateau of the Villanderer Alm to the Villanderer Berg. We are now at the geographical centre of South Tyrol. We continue past the Totensee to the Totenkirchl and the Stöffl Hut. The ascent covers about 1,400 metres in altitude.

Accomodation: Stöffl Hütte

Day 3

On Monday we hike over the Jocherer Berg and the Samspitze to the Kassian. We continue our hike over the Ritzlar to the Klausner Hut. The difference in altitude during the ascent is about 1,300 metres.

On Thursday the ascent of the Weißhorn, the highest mountain in the Sarntal Alps, is on the agenda. A shuttle service will take us to the Penserjoch, from where we will climb the 1,000 metres in altitude. We descend to Weißenbach and hike back to Pens.

On Saturday we hike to the Stoanernen Mandln, man-made stone formations that date back half a millenium.
